What Makes Your Moon Full?

The Moon is our gorgeous diva up in the sky.

Ever changing, first new and then full and then back, She has 28 recognized stages through which she expresses deep stages of our truths for us.

A spandana, a pulse, is created when she pushes and then pulls at our jala tattva, our water element – enough to actually make the Earth’s tides rise and fall and our own private ones as well.

Much is understood about Her personality in Vedic Astrology, but perhaps here I can make one more very small observation.

A simple test of what makes your own Moon full, what makes your own mind sing, can be found just by knowing your Vedic Sun sign, which unlike most of Vedic Astrology is a simple matter.  Steady each year, it only depends on your birthday.

(Note that these are sidereal placements which account for precession of the Earth and hence are the actual placements. That is, behind the Sun really was the constellation at the time of your birth. Tropical placements can promise no such thing.)

April 14th – May 13th:  You were born with a Vedic Sun in Aries. Therefore, what makes your Moon full is the relating to people, finding balance and harmony and beauty thereby. This may be actually difficult for you because your Sun is exalted and that Sun is debilitated in Libra (the actual full Moon placement). So a natural schism is there between your ego and your psyche. Good luck.

May 13th – June 14th: You were born with a Vedic Sun in Taurus. So, your private full Moon is in Scorpio, a place where the Moon is classically debilitated. Therefore, you also have a challenge in that you secretly like to investigate the grottoes, the mysteries of life, places that are naturally scary for the Queen, the Moon. She may prefer in fact to stay as a dark new Moon in her place of exaltation, Taurus, versus growing by going out into the underbelly. Good luck.

June 15th – July 15th: You were born with a Vedic Sun in Gemini. You psychologically feel greatly enriched by themes such as the pursuit of dharma, of righteousness, of knowing the galactic core of truth in the Universe. However, this Mercury-ruled Sun placement does have a natural problem with the Jupiterian nature of this Saggitarian full Moon placement. This is the ancient problem of the student not respecting the greatness of the teacher. The egoic Self resists the truth known by the psyche.

July 15th – August 16th: You were born with a Vedic Sun in Cancer. What makes your Moon full is hard work, the dedication and perseverance gained in Capricorn, and this full Moon is particularly salient and important for your Sun is in a Moon-ruled sign. Therefore, consider strongly this theme of work in public life, something that may seem at first unnatural for a regal luminary such as yourself to do.

August 16th – September 16th: You have a Vedic Sun sign in Leo. Thus, your ego (your Sun) is almost as strong as if you had an Aries placement.  Thus, you also may have a tough time time letting your ego relinquish control to the Queen. And you also face a similar challenge as a Cancer placement in that what makes your Moon full is the realization of hard, real, and eternal trans-humanist truths that make the world a better place, something also naturally hard for you as a regal luminary to face. Read Vedic teaching stories of kings who are able to relinquish their kingdom for the pursuit of these truths so that they may ultimately regain the kingdom as a leader of a better world.

September 16th – October 16th: You have a Vedic Sun sign in Virgo. Thus, your full Moon is to be found in the final Piscean adual resting place of spiritual freedom, something difficult for you to appreciate in your daily work of service.

October 16th – November 15th: You have a Vedic Sun sign in Libra, and your full Moon is to be found in the hot action of emergence of Aries. On the whole, this should be a successful venture all around. If anything, perhaps there is some taking for granted the vast catabolic potential available to your psyche.

November 15th – December 15th: You have a Vedic Sun in Scorpio, and find your Moon full in Taurus, the Moon’s place of exaltation. You feel psychologically enriched by the slow-moving earthiness of making something beautiful that is permanent. Go ahead, feel free of your ego’s strictures, for you will be successful in these themes.

December 15th – January 14th: You have a Vedic Sun in Sagittarius, and your teacherly ego may feel exasperated by how very much you enjoy the quick-witted, the funny, the dualistic plays and class-clown aspects of life.

January 14th – February 13th: You have a Vedic Sun in Capricorn, and your full Moon finds very rich fulfilment in Cancer.  Your normally hard-working, nose-to-the-grindstone self may scowl at the watery emotionalism that you can experience at times. The strength in this situation is with the Queen (the emotionalism), so go ahead and indulge your feelings. Your ego may appreciate the break from a restrictive sense of work thereby.

February 13th – March 13th: You have a Vedic Sun in Aquarius, and you find secret fulfilment in leadership, in the proud raising of the charge. This may be hard for your ego, because it would have to relinquish a certain control of its ascetic self, but by allowing your Queen to rule, you will find that she does a fine job.

March 13th – April 13th: You have a Vedic Sun in Pisces, and your Moon is full in service.  There is a kind of beauty here in that mind-fulfilling service, that seva, as a full reflection of spiritual attainment, so let it be.
