Calendar Convert
Hello! This simple tool allows you to convert a date between Gregorian and Julian calendars. (Gregorian is the one in common use today in the West.)
The function of this tool is especially important for astrologers, because there is a lot of discrepancies among astrological softwares as to whether the dates are accurately computed as well as discrepancies in historical texts for giving a birth date as Gregorian or Julian.
Practical example: Hildegard von Bingen has a birth date from a long time ago, 1098 AD. A source for her chart offers August 17, 1098 at 20:50 pm as her birth data. The problem here is that the date is in Gregorian, a calendar that did not exist at the time of her birth. Some Jyotish programs require exceedingly old dates to be given in Julian and some will do the conversion for you from Gregorian to Julian and not necessarily tell you. (August 17 1098 Gregorian is August 11 1098 in Julian.)
Writing to the developer will help you to know which is which, and this page here will help you know what to input for very old dates into that software to be consistent with that system.
