"By a number of means - by prayer, by will power, by yoga meditation, by consultation with saints, by use of astrological bangles - the adverse effects of past wrongs can be minimized or nullified." - Chapter 16, Paramahamsa Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi
People who know how essential this item is for spiritual, mental and physical well-being need no reminder, and for those who are yet to find out, no brief description on screen can suffice.
The 3 metal astrological yoga bangle may be the most important item in this shop.
Quite substantial, the bangle for kaphas shown on this page is composed only of strands of 24 kt gold, 99.9%+ fine silver and 99.9% copper, each of the same specific weight. You will be the first person to ever wear it. By telling us the size of the location (inches or cm around upper arm or wrist), we can shape your bangle to your size.
Note that, besides deep respect and admiration, this shop has no direct connection to the Self Realization Fellowship (SRF). To attain an SRF blessed and sanctioned bangle, please contact them through http://www.yogananda-srf.org/ or other standard means.
As Shri Paramahamsa went to the corner jeweler to have his bangles made, we hope that you will consider us to make yours.
The source for our metals is a top-notch purveyor, the best in the country, absolutely impeccable in its reputation, and we custom make the bangles here in Boulder, CO, USA.
Vedic chants are recited with the union of 3 fundamental astral forces as actively represented by the 3 metals, and we prefer to make the bangles under proper muhurta as determined by Renay.
You can have your own guru bless it to have it infused with His or Her energy.
Starting length for both the kapha (shown here) and pitta is either 8 inches or your own larger custom length, as measured before twisting. Starting length for the vata one is 16 inches. The length for all three shortens upon twisting. The actual final bracelet length after being made will be somewhat reduced from the initial length, typically by 10% or less. This necessary shortening has to occur as the wires wrap to create a relatively thick chord.
Measure the location to see what FINAL length would best fit you (add 1/2 inch or so for overlap) and be sure to include it in the comment field in your order. That way two important things can happen: I can make sure that your starting length is long enough, and I can also shape the final bangle to suit your size.
If you want a larger final length than 7.25 inches, that is no problem. You can order extra length by the half inch.
I would be happy to do the calculations for you first before you order. There are no returns with this order, so let's measure twice and cut once as the saying goes.
Interestingly, in the over nine months of constantly wearing the bangle, people are saying that the bangle does not show signs of oxidizing or causing a green color to rub off on the skin. This is so also for a woman who usually gets a strong rash when she wears copper.
It is a science, after all. :)
"It is never a question of belief ; the only scientific attitude one can take on any subject is whether it is true. The law of gravitation worked as efficiently before Newton as after him. The cosmos would be fairly chaotic if its laws could not operate without the sanction of human belief." - Shri Yukteswar in Autobiography of a Yogi
Postscript: Common questions have been coming up of the actual amount of metal in the bangle and how one may expect any results if the total amount of gold differs. This tells me that I am not giving a full enough description.
As the price for the kapha one here is 1/6th or so of the "regular" bangles, so too is the amount of gold. That is to say, there is actually approximately 1/5th of a troy ounce of 24 kt gold in the kapha bracelet, a higher relative and actual amount. The weight of fine silver and copper in the kapha bracelets are each the same as well to allow for equal specific weights while still being significantly more affordable.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: the 8 inch length actually is for the wires used before twisting, The final bracelet length will be somewhat reduced, typically by 10% or less.
It was an experiment to see if the smaller total weight than the "regular" bangles would still have an effect if the bracelets were made under proper muhurta and mantra, and that seems to be the case.
Why do I name these bangles for vatas, pittas, and kaphas? It has been my experience in the over three years of making these bangles that people with kapha prakriti do well with a matching thicker and more substantial bangle.
Pittas do well with the perfectly proportioned medium bangle, and pure vatas could get the lightest one to match their constitution.
I believe rather strongly from training in Ayurveda and from reading masterworks on this topic, that the mixture of gold, silver and copper altogether is what is necessary for the functioning, however mysterious, of the bracelet. It is true that copper and even silver are very inexpensive (in relation to 24 kt gold), but they still have strong healing and balancing effects in Ayurveda.
As to how the bangle functions, Shri Paramahamsa Yogananda simply says that the bangle acts like a lightning rod for the astral body, directing the most strong forces away from it. I am also reminded of a conversation I had on this topic with an engineer. He said that whenever 2 or more metals come together, a magnetic field is developed.
I love what the SRF do, are, and represent and do not want to take a penny from their treasury. This bangle is just an option if the 1 oz of gold is simply, practically too much.
As Shri Yukteswar said, it is a science.
Best wishes to all who read this.
